So, You Think You Can Sing?: Actors Who’ve Dabbled in Music (Some Good, Some Not So Much)
Zooey Deschanel, Lindsay Lohan, Bruce Willis and Scarlett Johansson… want to know what they all have in common? They all attempted that rocky transition from actor to singer, some conquering this territory with success, but many failing spectacularly. The urge for actors to test their talents in other realms is an understandable one. It makes sense that if you’re celebrated for talents in one area, you surmise that you have what it takes to flourish in other arenas. The aforementioned actors are just a shortlist of individuals who’ve attempted the crossover, read on to find out which African American singers have dabbled into singing.
Terrence Howard
Howard’s performance as an actor and rapper in the acclaimed film Hustle & Flow earned him an Academy Award nomination and recognition for his…well, flow. He followed the film with the release of his first studio album, Shine Through It –which presents music that is far different than what’s featured in the film. Most often described as experimental, the album features soft-rock, R&B and soul sounds.
About That TLC Biopic…A Few Actresses Who Maybe Might Could Possibly Pull Off These Roles (But We’re Not Co-Signing)
Disclaimer: This post is entirely for s**ts and giggles because we have no idea how this movie is going to work.
This morning we came across news on VH1′s blog that casting for the network’s upcoming TLC biopic is about to begin and immediately all of our hearts sank. At first, the full-length TV feature sounded like a good idea but rarely, matter of fact very rarely, is casting for a movie about a singer ever well done, excluding Ms. Angela Bassett as Tina Turner of course. We racked our brains for a long time trying to figure out who could even possibly play the very Crazy, S(w)exy, and Cool Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins, Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas, and honestly very few ladies hit the jackpot. But hey, it’s a job and somebody’s got to do it, so here are our best guesses for ladies to take on TLC on-screen.
Can You Guess Whose Cute Kid This Is?

So who does this little ray of sunshine belong to? Weeeeeell, her mother is a famous actress who has been in movies like Love & Basketball and Dr. Doolittle, but she’s also had a very successful television career over the years, doing voice work for a popular Disney cartoon as well as starring on a former UPN hit show. The little munchkin’s dad is a rapper, songwriter and even a popular tattoo artist (talk about a renaissance man, right?). She just turned two this past weekend, and if you can already guess who her mom is, I’m sure you’ll agree that this baby looks just like her. So whose cute kid is this?

WENN
It’s Kyla Pratt’s baby of course! She had little Lyric Kilpatrick with Danny Kilpatrick, and she was born Nov. 17 2010. Pratt remained very mum about giving birth to her daughter and revealed it to Sister 2 Sister magazine last year because she didn’t want to expose her daughter to too much too soon. But nowadays, Pratt and the father of Lyric post her pictures on their Twitter and Instagram all the time. She’s too cute and we’re wishing the little one a happy belated birthday! Check out photos of her cute self below with her pops.

Say Whaaat?: Stars Who Kept it Real This Week
We’ve all seen the stories of what happens when “keepin’ it real” goes horribly, horribly wrong. When every move you make is under public scrutiny, it’s nearly impossible to get everything right. And the fact is, bad moves sell a lot more advertising than good stuff.
So it’s refreshing when our stars keep it really real by sticking to their values and who they are as a person, despite the harsh glare of the spotlight.
Here’s a quick wrap up of stars that kept it real all week:
