Some people have all the talent: they’re blessed enough to have their own singing careers and they write huge hits for some of their peers. Color me jealous! Here’s a SHORT list of some of the songs I deemed noteworthy (and trust me, I could have gone on for pages and pages). What are some of your favorite songs written by singers for other singers? Let us know…
My music loving heart just can’t and won’t let some artists go. A few times a week, I’m on the hunt for new artists to fall in love with (musically speaking, of course) but in the meantime, my mp3 player always goes back to people I love.
These are a few artists who we haven’t had an album from in quite some time – some you know and some you may have forgotten about – and hopefully, they’ll grace us again.
Musiq Soulchild sat down with Madame Noire to talk about everything from his baby boy with 702 singer Kameelah Williams to his VERY interesting choice in classic movies. Check it all out in the video below!
What’s your favorite Musiq Soulchild song?
Have you heard Marsha Ambrosius’ new album “Late Nights, Early Mornings?” If you have, then you know it’s the truth. If not, then you are truly missing out, my dear. Anyway, Marsha sat down with AOL Black Voices for a fun and candid interview. She talks about everything from working with Michael Jackson to her dramatic weightloss. On the subject of her relationship with Natalie Stewart (the other half of the Floetry), she said they haven spoken since 2007. Ouch!
Check out more of what Marsha had to say over on AOL Black Voices.
What’s your favorite track on her new album?
That man is at it again. Seems like he has no act-right in him and this time, it’s really done or maybe you did the messing up or maybe the reasons aren’t so cut and dry and there’s enough blame to spread to both parties. Whatever happened, we’ve all been there. Break-ups are awful, tortuous painful events. Luckily, we have music to get us through the different stages of emotions that a break-up dumps on us (pun intended). Old school legends, new school entertainers and some of those great artists from the 90’s we never heard from again are all here to help us. We present to you the Ultimate Break-Up Playlist.
It’s been a while since we’ve seen Natalie “Floacist” Stewart formerly of London/Philly soul duo Floetry, but today she has a new album (“Floetic Soul”), a new look and a new tour in the works. Check out what the Floacist told Madame Noire about her single with Musiq, her reason for leaving Floetry and what the heck she’s been up to for the past four years.
Calling all poetry readers, listeners, and writers…have you ever heard a poem so deep that it gave you chills? Hasn’t the spoken art cut directly into your soul? Weren’t you impacted by its portrayal of love, happiness, and desperation? Music reverberates every emotion there is – even the frustration of putting pen to paper.
We love poets so much that we’ve decided to showcase lyrical geniuses who changed the poetry circuit for good!
