It’s that time of year again…
Unless you have plans to live it up at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles where Queen Latifah is hosting, you’ll probably be playing arm-chair critic to the pre-show, main event and after-events that make up the 2010 BET Awards, which air live this Sunday, June 27 at 8:00 p.m EST.
The buzz on the show began a few months ago when it was announced that teen pop sensation Justin Bieber was among those nominated as Best New Artist. Madames, don’t tell me you’re still heated about his nomination? Does BET even play Justin Bieber videos?
BET Awards ’10 will recognize the achievements of artists, entertainers and athletes in 19 categories. Front-runner Jay- Z gets 5 individual nominations across multiple categories, followed by his wife Beyonce and collaborator Alicia Keys with 4 nods each. Trey Songz and Melanie Fiona also have 4 nominations.
Prince will be on hand for a Lifetime Achievement Award, John Legend will accept a Humanitarian Award, and performers include: Alicia Keys, Drake, Usher, Nicki Minaj, Ludacris, Kanye West, Kim Burrell, Yolanda Adams, and Kirk Franklin.
