Zendaya Coleman Kids Choice

Don’t let Zendaya Coleman’s age fool you. The 19-year-old actress and singer will educate anyone, young or old, on how not to come for her unless she sends for you. She had to let Guiliana Rancic and people who come for her imaginative hair choices know that, and just this past weekend she had to set a woman almost 20 years older than her straight in a similar fashion on Twitter.

It all started when Coleman attended the 2016 Kids Choice Awards and looked beautiful (per the norm) on the red carpet. But out of nowhere, Difficult People c(on Hulu) comedienne Julie Klausner made some comments on Twitter about how dangerously thin she felt the actress is and why that’s a problem as a role model for many young girls. Actually, it wasn’t just “some” comments. There were quite a few:

Coleman’s fans and followers did a pretty thorough job of reading Klausner for filth. Eventually, Coleman spoke out and kept it brief, telling women of all sizes to be proud of their bodies and leaving Klausner with the very first “U Mad” title of the week.

Klausner, who had enough of people hijacking her mentions, decided to wave the white woman flag.

Body-shaming is never a good look, and I think people assume they’re not doing so when they criticize women for being “too skinny” and needing to “eat a meal” because most body-shaming conversations are centered around women who are plus-size. But it definitely is just as ugly and mean-spirited to attack a woman’s body as too skinny when she probably felt beautiful (and was minding her business) and happy accepting an award for her hard work. A woman who barely is out of her teenage years and probably is still learning to embrace her body, because it takes a while for many of us, even as adults to do so. While Klausner may have thought she was funny, or even being honest and inspirational, there’s nothing humorous or uplifting about claiming you’re fighting to help a slew of young girls love themselves by berating one in particular.
