Is there anybody on TV whom you watch that makes your belly upset and head hurt? It’s not that you can’t stand them, because honestly, you don’t know them from Adam in real life. It’s just that the individual behaves in such a way that it’s just stressful to watch.

That’s Kristen Scott for me.

Beautiful girl, but she makes the absolute worst reality TV show decisions and then is surprised about the end results.

Take for example, episode one of Basketball Wives, which aired on Wednesday night. We find out very early on in the episode that Kristen has become less than welcome around her father-in-law, former NBA star and coach Byron Scott, due to comments she made last season when the women were in Amsterdam. To summarize, she basically blamed CeCe Gutierrez, who was Byron’s girlfriend at the time, for him not being as present in their daughter’s life as he could be. That conversation was a tearful, heated one that really was never resolved, and in the end, it did more damage than it was worth. How you ask? Because it upset Byron a lot, and he felt that she tried to publicly blast him as a grandfather. He told CeCe, whom he’s now engaged to, that even if she and Kristen can resolve their issues, Kristen would still need to resolve the beef he now has with her. Byron was so annoyed, he doesn’t even want his daughter-in-law at their wedding.

“Through all the stuff that she’s said, I still haven’t heard a word from her, which is to me, kind of crazy,” he said. “So I want my sons to be there, but I don’t particularly want her there.”

And just at the moment that I felt such a decision on Byron’s part was excessive, Kristen jumped up and proved that she didn’t get that trying so hard to be messy doesn’t pay off. A few scenes later, she met up for cigars with exiled basketball wife Jennifer Williams, who initially claimed she had done some soul-searching after the drama in Amsterdam. In reality though, Jennifer was still mad that Shaunie O’Neal had allegedly lied about her talking about Evelyn Lozada’s daughter, all because Shaunie was angry that Jennifer helped stir the rumor about Shaq and Evelyn.

“Let me just say this. I don’t know why you care about who he fucks because it ain’t just this one rumor. That’s why you ain’t with his a– now,” Jennifer told Kristen, in reference to Shaunie. “Is this the first time you heard a rumor about him f–king somebody? Girl, bye! It’s CNN breaking news to you? It’s not to other people.”

Now, was what Jennifer said inappropriate? Sure. However, did it need to be taken back to Shaunie and shared on the night she was looking to celebrate her son Shareef’s successful heart surgery? And did Kristen need to invite Jennifer without asking Shaunie if it was okay? And did she need to tell her that she invited Jennifer after telling Shaunie the messy thing she said about her ex-husband? HELL NO. But you know Kristen, she stays true to form:

The fact that she felt like she had this pertinent, damaging information to share (it wasn’t that deep) and that she needed to spill it in order to stay on good terms with the ladies, was ridiculous. That information, in turn, created unnecessary drama on what was supposed to be a good event for a good cause for Shaunie and her family. Shaunie literally jumped up and cussed Jennifer out (not to her face though) and bailed on the whole party in anger because of Jennifer’s presence and comments. Great job, Kristen.

If you put Kristen’s scenes together, it comes off that she is not aware of where her loyalty lies and when to retreat from drama. From basically abandoning CeCe, who practically was and will be family, to meeting up with Jennifer just to run back and tell the other ladies what she said, she does the absolute most in order to stay in the good graces of who she deems the HBICs: Shaunie and Evelyn. She’s allowed reality TV, and the opportunity to look like she’s part of the in-crowd, to taint relations in her family and the representation of her character. And yet, she has the audacity to not believe it’s possible that Byron would take issue with her, enough of an issue with her that he doesn’t want her at his wedding or in his presence.

“Byron would NEVER,” huh?

Hope it’s worth it, because this season looks like another opportunity for Kristen to continue to make the worst choices and impressions, not only to her father-in-law, but to the people watching the mess she can’t seem to not be a part of.
