CoolSculpting is the world’s number one non-invasive fat-reduction procedure. It’s FDA cleared, proven gentle and effective, and. Dr. April Speed recommends it to all moms who want to “snap back” after having children, and those who simply want to lose weight in specific areas.
“There are a lot of devices on the market now aimed to minimize fat” said Dr. Speed, a Board Certified physician by the American College of Surgeons. “It took me several years of patient demand and investigating the various technologies available before deciding on which fat reducing procedure would be the best fit for my patients. I chose to exclusively offer CoolSculpting.”

We had the opportunity to chat with the Dr. Speed and learn more about this new fat-reducing technology women are embracing this summer. Here’s what she told us.
Madame Noire (MN): Describe what CoolSculpting is
Dr. April Speed (Dr. Speed): The technology uses controlled cooling to target and eliminate those stubborn fat cells resistant to diet and exercise.
MN: How does it compare to liposuction in terms of cost and recovery?
Dr. Speed: The price of Cool Sculpting varies depending on your areas of concern, the number of sessions desired and your ultimate goals. The great thing about Cool Sculpting is it is not cost prohibitive; it is about 1/3 the cost of liposuction. In terms of recovery there is no surgery, needles or down time.
MN: How long does the procedure take?
Dr. Speed: The procedure takes 30 minutes on average. In the weeks to follow the body naturally processes and eliminates these dead fat cells. Cool Sculpting results are long-term, as treated fat cells are gone for good, unlike with diet and exercise alone (the fat cells simply shrink then re-expand with changes in diet and lack of exercise).
MN: Nowadays “snapping back” after pregnancy is important to new moms. Would you suggest Cool Sculpting to this group?
Dr. Speed: I would certainly recommend Cool Sculpting to this group since it can target stubborn fat in the abdomen, thighs, flank (sides), under the chin, around the bra, back, and underneath the buttocks. These are all areas that are often most affected after child birth and the most resistant to diet and exercise. However, you want to protect your investment so I encourage women to plan to have Cool Sculpting done either after child-bearing is complete or if there is going to be several years in between births.
MN: Are there any precautions one should know about before getting this done?
Dr. Speed: Consult with your doctor before seeking treatment in this area. This is a safe, painless, non-surgical procedure with no anesthesia required.
