When spicing things up in the bedroom, safety has got to be your number one priority.
Two summers ago, Rica Varna died after a night of drinking and sexual play with her boyfriend, Oliver Dietmann, the Daily Mail reports. The couple used a cucumber as a sex toy, and when the deed was done, Dietmann placed it in Varna’s mouth.
“I put it in her mouth. But suddenly I saw there was smoke coming from the kitchen. I forgot that I had put a piece of meat on the stove for my dog,” Dietmann told authorities. “I ran to the kitchen, fed my dog and then went on to the balcony to smoke a cigarette.”
According to Dietmann, he and Varna frequently used vegetables in the bedroom. Once he returned to the room, he noticed that Varna was unconscious. Autopsy reports show that she was nearly four times over the legal limit to drive. Reports have not specified whether or not Varna’s hands were tied at the time.
“I tried to get the cucumber pieces out of her mouth,” he said before adding that they were too mushy.
According to medical sources, the victim slipped into a coma after the cucumber cut off her breathing. Dietmann is currently on trial for negligent homicide. If convicted, he faces up to five years behind bars.
“The defendant must have known that he should not have left her for so long on her own,” said Reinhard Hoffmann, who is prosecuting the case.
A verdict is expected to be handed down on Friday.
