It looks like Oprah tries to find the silver lining in every situation.

As we all know by now, one of the “hot pop topics” of the week was Oprah’s racist encounter with a sales clerk in Zurich. Lady O (or “Auntie O” as many of you affectionately call her) sat down with Entertainment Tonight’s Nancy O’Dell to tell her side of the story.

But apparently, there was one thing Oprah didn’t realize until after she’d done the interview and the story was picked up everywhere: the price of the purse.

While all of us were privy to the information almost immediately, Oprah didn’t know the bag she was denied looking at was $38,000. On Friday, she tweeted to Nancy O’Dell about it:

While some were saying, “If I were wealthy, I still wouldn’t buy a purse that expensive,” others rationed that it was Oprah and a bag with that price tag was more like a drop in the bucket and she wouldn’t miss it.  Clearly, it wasn’t about what she can afford, but rather what she’s actually willing to spend.

I suppose when you have friends like Suze Orman, you become smarter about your purchases. Besides, who needs a $38,000 purse (not including the tax) when Oprah can spend money on the things we like to see on her Instagram page like balloon rides over Africa, dinners in the midst of the safari, and beautiful homes across the county?
