(Greater Baton Rouge Business Report) — In the context of race, Baton Rouge is a tale of two cities. Or rather, a tale of two parishes.
Predominantly white affluent areas in the south and west of East Baton Rouge Parish enjoy the best quality of life in all of Louisiana. Mostly low-income, black neighborhoods in the north of the parish have the worst.
A wavy, diagonal line divides the parish from northwest to southeast, separating the state’s richest from its poorest, its haves from its have-nots.
