(Chicago Sun Times) — Gov. Quinn on Tuesday extended for up to two more months the state’s Put Illinois to Work program — a federal stimulus program that has enabled 26,000 Illinoisans to get job training and work experience.
The extension — keeping the program active past the Nov. 2 election — will be paid for with $75 million in state money, said Quinn, who faces an uphill re-election battle amid a state financial crisis.
