(NYT) — Todd Dore never worries whether there will be room at the two-spaceelectric-car-charging station in the downtown garage where he juices up his converted VW Beetle after commuting from the western suburbs.
Mr. Dore, 43, is one of about only 100 motorists in the Chicago area who own cars that run solely on electricity, either do-it-yourself conversions like Mr. Dore’s or the high-end Tesla roadster, according to the suburban Fox Valley Electric Auto Association.
