A new committee formed to improve relations between Atlanta Police and the city’s gay community will convene for the first time Monday morning.
The inaugural meeting comes almost one year to the day of the now-infamous Eagle incident, when undercover officers — acting on tips of illegal sexual activity — raided the gay leather bar, arresting eight employees. Charges were eventually dropped. Twenty-eight employees and patrons of the Eagle have filed a federal lawsuit alleging civil right violations, saying the police “had neither a warrant, nor probable cause.”
