(NYT) –Maj. Charles Day, who the State Police said Tuesday was being transferred from Gov. David A. Paterson’s security detail, is under scrutiny by the state ethics commission for his conduct in a domestic dispute case involving one of the governor’s top aides.
The investigation of Major Day appears to have begun several months ago, before the administration’s intervention in the domestic dispute was referred to an independent counsel, Judith S. Kaye, for potential criminal prosecution, said Major Day’s lawyer, Richard E. Mulvaney.
