(New York One) — Months after cutting service, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority is reportedly set to hike fares and fees as it tries to reduce its deficit. Reports say the agency is considering raising the cost of a monthly unlimited MetroCard from $89 to $100 and shrinking the off-peak discount on the Long Island Rail Road and Metro North – meaning riders would pay more to come into the city on weekends, during the afternoon, and late at night.
