Today it was announced that Kate Spade died in her apartment at the age of 55. The NYC-based fashion designer apparently committed suicide just one year after selling her company for more than $2 billion.
Known for her funky bags and entertaining signature prints in both stripes and polka dots, Spade’s fashions were recognized by all and beloved by many celebs. In response to the sad news of Spade’s pasing, The Council of Fashion Designers of America posted a statement from Chairwoman Diane von Furstenberg and President, Steven Kolb, saying, “She was a great talent who had an immeasurable impact on American fashion and the way the world viewed American accessories.”
