(Washington Business Journal) — D.C. Councilman Phil Mendelson is leading the opposition against Mayor Adrian Fenty’s pick to serve on the Zoning Commission, citing a lack of relevant experience and the nominee’s business ties to the District government.
The nomination of Stanley Wall, owner of Wall Development Group LLC, a real estate development and advisory services firm, is scheduled for a Council vote early next month. Mendelson, D-At large, opposed Wall’s nomination during the May 18 Committee of the Whole meeting. During Committee of the Whole, the council decides whether to take up an issue during a subsequent legislative session.
