The Allen Iverson Child Support Wars Continue: Ex-wife Seeking Over $1 Million In Child Support!

Allen Iverson child support

The Allen Iverson child support woes continue as his ex-wife is seeking the rest of the money for their children.

Tawanna Iverson filed documents earlier this month asking a judge to order Iverson to pay up front child support for their children until 2026 when their youngest child turns 18. The total comes out to just over $1.2 million, according to TMZ.

Tawanna has notoriously had to take Allen to court over child support issues in just the last year. When they divorced, he was order to pay $8,000 per month but refused to do so. After going back and forth yet again, a judge ordered Allen to pay $40,000 in back support.

Basically, she’s trying to be proactive in all the Allen Iverson child support drama.

No word on how the judge will rule yet but clearly, Tawanna thinks she will have to continue to fight him in court to financially take care of their children and she doesn’t want to do it anymore.

The Iversons had quite the tumultuous relationship until their divorce was finalized in February. Unfortunately, their children are being hurt by the continued messiness.

One thing for sure: Allen Iverson must have some secret accounts somewhere to make all of these payments. No one really believed he was as broke as it was originally reported anyway.

No Father Of The Year Award: Judge Rips Allen Iverson In Divorce Judgment

After years of breaking up to make up followed by a very ugly separation, Allen and Tawanna Iverson are officially no longer a union.

An Atlanta judge, according to TMZ, recently signed off on the divorce papers for the former couple who were married for 12 years.  They share five children and as this was family court, the judge was very open about his feelings for AI in the divorce decree. His comments included:

“[Iverson] does not know how to manage the children; has little interest in learning to manage the children and has actually, at times, been a hindrance to their spiritual and emotional growth and development.

For example, he has refused to attend to an obvious and serious alcohol problem, which has caused him to do inappropriate things in the presence of the children while impaired.

He has left the children alone without supervision. He has left his young daughters in a hotel room with men who are unknown to the mother.”

The judge awarded Tawanna Iverson full legal and physical custody of the children who range from ages 4 to 17.  He is particularly concerned for their well being as it pertains to AI’s drinking so although he has some visitation rights, they are contingent upon him following certain rules. For example, until all of his children become legal, he must not consume any alcohol within 24 hours of the time he has the children.

Taking that a step further, the judge has ordered that Iverson not consume any alcohol, period, over the next 18 months. He has also been ordered to attend AA meetings for a year.

What an unfortunate situation. Iverson’s drinking and alleged gambling problems have been the source of many random news stories over the past few years.  His NBA legacy has often been tarnished by his attitude and off the court problems.

He recently turned down an offer from the Texas Legends, a D league team, saying that is not the route for him and he’s always wanted to complete his basketball legacy in the NBA.

Hopefully, he’ll take his parental legacy more seriously and establish a more solid and positive relationship with his children.

Well, It’s About Time: Allen Iverson And Soon-To-Be-Ex-Wife Tawanna Finally Reach A Divorce Settlement

After nearly three years of drawn-out divorce proceedings, Allen Iverson and soon-to-be-ex-wife Tawanna Iverson have finally reached a divorce settlement. According to Hip Hop Enquirer, while sitting in a Fulton County courthouse, both Allen and Tawanna informed judge Bensonetta Tipton Lane that they have reached an agreement as to how they will go about splitting Allen’s $18 million dollars as a part of their marital assets. The judge’s name may sound familiar because she is the same judge who presided over Usher Raymond and Tameka Foster’s custody battle.

It seems that the biggest issue that presented itself  in the Iverson’s divorce was how to fairly divide the large amount of trust money that Allen acquired as a result of his lifetime deal with Reebok that he signed back in 2001. Thankfully, somehow, someway both Allen and Tawanna were able to reach an agreement in which they were both satisfied.

Following the trial, Allen’s attorney, Melanie Fenwick-Thompson expressed her client’s contentment with the outcome of the case:

“Our client is extremely pleased with the outcome of the case even though we came in near the end of it, we had an uphill battle. Mr. Iverson showed up ready to actively participate in his case and fight for the things he wanted.”

So far, the manner in which the money and assets will be divided between Allen and Tawanna remains confidential. We can’t really say for sure how content Tawanna is with the agreement considering her attorney has declined to comment. However, we’re guessing that since she’s agreed to it, she’s fairly content as well.

Hopefully both Allen and Tawanna can now move on with their lives.

Allen Iverson Says No to Divorce Because He’s Still Getting It On With His Wife

Poor Allen, he just doesn’t have a clue. If a divorce petition could be thrown out because the people involved were still sleeping together, America probably wouldn’t have a 50 percent divorce rate right now. But nevertheless, the former NBA player says his wife’s divorce filing should be null and void based on those grounds.

According to TMZ, last week Allen filed a motion to dismiss his pending divorce case, claiming he and his wife Tawanna had temporarily reconciled from November 2011 to February 2012 and had “resumed their marital relationship, cohabiting, having relations and holding themselves out as husband and wife.” In his mind, knocking the boots means their marriage isn’t “irretrievably broken,” as she claimed.

Now before you get all mushy thinking this is a man trying to save his relationship and family, TMZ speculates this could just be a move by Allen to avoid having to pay child support—SMH. Considering we’re talking about a man who put buying jewelry he couldn’t afford before feeding his family, I’m thinking they’re on to something. It’s cute he thinks sex changes divorce though.

What do you think about Allen’s legal move? Does he have a point or is he just trying to save his wallet?
