Dangerously In Love? Rihanna Releases “Lost In Paradise” From Upcoming Album (Pass Or Play?)

It might be wrong but it feels right! That’s Rihanna’s mantra, or at least it is on this new cut, “Lost In Paradise” from her upcoming release, Unapologetic. On the track, which is laced with a pretty haunting electro-beat (one she hums on top of), the singer croons about going through a love that is delusional–among other things–and trying to ignore a broken heart in order to stay in a union that’s miserable on paper, but satisfies the hell out of her: “I can see the darkness, flashing lights, all my fears, won’t deny, Let me stay, lost in paradise.” I guess you could call it the flip version of “We Found Love,” but whatever you call it, the Rihanna Navy is probably going to make it a hit if it makes its way to the radio.

Can’t front, I was definitely nodding my head to this one, because a moody jam from Rihanna is usually a banger. It definitely seems that with this new album, Rihanna is going back to a darker sound that has a bit of the techno-pop edge that her last two albums showcased, but with much deeper lyrics (seriously, we all know Talk That Talk was basically a sex album). I’m interested to see what the album will be working with when it drops on November 19. Check the track out below and let us know what you think! Pass or play?

Do Ya Thang! Rihanna Named Third-Highest Paid Celebrity Under 30

Representing for the black girls in the entertainment industry, Rihanna is one of the highest paid celebrities under 30.

The 24-year-old popstar sealed the number 3 spot on the Forbes’ list released today. MTV reports:

Though she recently filed suit against her former accountants, Rihanna reportedly raked in $53 million, much of it as a result of her 85-show world tour and sales from the Talk That Talk album. She also gets paid via endorsement deals with Vita Coco coconut water and Nivea lotion and took in millions more through her Reb’l Fleur fragrance.

“Talk that Talk” is Rihanna’s sixth album and was released in November of last year. As of June 2012, the album has sold nearly a million copies in the United States as well as hundreds of thousands of copies around the world.

This list, dominated by women, includes the celebrities’ income from May of 2011 to May of 2012. Justin Beiber, the only male in the top 5, is in the 2nd spot for taking home $55 million dollars in that time-frame. Taylor Swift is the number one highest paid celeb under 30 with $57 million. Despite declining album sales across the industry, Forbes says Taylor can be counted on to sell at least 4 million copies of every album. She also reportedly brought in about $1 million per sold-out concert and she has a lucrative deal with CoverGirl makeup. Lady Gaga is in 4th place with $52 million and Katy Perry rounded out the top five taking home $45 million.

MTV lists the rest of the top 10: Adele ($35 million), Kristen Stewart ($34.5 million), Lil Wayne ($27 million), Taylor Lautner ($26.5 million) and Robert Pattinson ($26.5 million).

Clearly, it pays to be a female in the music industry.

Are you surprised by this list?

Video: Rihanna Does “Talk That Talk,” “Cake,” and “Where Have You Been” on SNL

Despite the fact that Ri-Ri pissed off folks at “Saturday Night Live” by missing her final dress rehearsal for the show over the weekend, homegirl still brought the sex and the swag to the stage as the musical performer (Eli Manning was the host) on the popular weekly show. The singer called in sick, but some cast members called bull saying that during the show she looked perfectly fine. In the end, she didn’t sweat when the heat was thrown on her. Instead, she danced in little pants and slapped her crotch while performing a mash up of “Cake” and “Talk That Talk” during her first set of the night. And while she looked great, I’m sorry, but homegirl sounded very shaky. Maybe she was sick after all, and if she wasn’t she might want to stick to that excuse…

But in the second performance of “Where Have You Been,” she showed off some slick choreography and sounded much better. That one we were actually grooving to. But you check out both performances below and let us know what you think. Awesome or awful?

Video: Rihanna Pop Lock and Drops It in Visuals for “Where Have You Been”

Yesterday, the Bajan pop princess debuted her video for the song “Where Have You Been” after weeks of leaking behind the scene footage. In the exclusive footage, we watched her prepare by making scandalous sassy wardrobe choices (pasties or no pasties?), going through choreography and more, but now we have the final product of all that.

The video is very trippy and psychedelic at times. Rih starts it all by climbing out of a dark lagoon (dressed to a minimum of course) like a sea creature coming out of hiding. After that, she is seen in a variety of places, and we see the most dancing I think this girl has done on-screen…ever. And yeah, she does kind of kill it. She switches up the hair and the sets behind her drastically change with each verse, and the visuals are indeed enchanting, but sometimes they get a little dull. But she looks cute, and that’s all that matters, right? No? Whatever.

Check out the video below and let us know if you’re feeling it.

Thoughts? Are you a fan of the track?

The wait is o.v.a. Now that Rihanna has wrapped up her Loud tour, she’s debuted the video for “You Da One” off of her new album, “Talk That Talk.”

Blonde looks good on Ri Ri in this mostly black and white video, and after seeing “We Found Love,” I think she’s pushing for more visually stimulating music videos with this album.

Check it out below and tell us what you think.

‘Talk That Talk’ Sales Disappoint, As Expected

November 30th, 2011 - By Brande Victorian

Last week, HITS Daily Double projected that Rihanna’s sixth studio album, “Talk That Talk,” would sell between 180,000 and 200,000 copies in its first week; sales records show that prediction was dead on.

Coming in at the #3 spot this week, “Talk That Talk” sold 197,000 copies. The ranking certainly doesn’t make the album a flop, but many continue to question why Rihanna can’t pull in a #1 record, particularly with the success of her singles, most recently, “We Found Love.” The reported trouble Rihanna has had selling concert tickets also doesn’t bid well for her staying power in the industry, despite the media frenzy that continues to swarm around the young star. It seems Rihanna’s controversies carry more weight than her craft.

Did you pick up a copy of “Talk That Talk?” Why do you think the singer hasn’t been able to secure a no. 1 record during her six-year career?

As many people pan Rihanna’s singing capabilities, that hasn’t stopped her continous, red hot rise in the music industry. Even legendary group Coldplay requested the pop princesses’ presence on their upcoming fifth album,  Mylo Xyloto, which hits stores on Oct. 25. Rih Rih sings on pulsating track “Princess of China.”

The redhead turned brunette is in the middle of a European tour and also wrapping up production on her next solo album, Talk That Talk. What do you think of this collaboration? Take a listen below:
