We’ve seen Rihanna and Chris Brown lookalikes on “Law & Order: SVU,” but are you ready for the real 2 Chainz to hit the set of the crime drama? If not, that’s too bad because it’s happening – according to this pic the self–professed “hair weave killer” posted on Instragram last night.
Imagine my surprise as I scrolled my timeline and came across this image of 2 Chainz with his arm around a scary looking white woman and then realized…gasp!… that’s Olivia Benson. From the grin on his face — and the look of confusion on hers — it’s clear to see he’s a bit more excited about this new venture than Mariska Hargitay is, especially since he put a caption “my new boo” and she’s looking like “why do I have to do this?”
At first I thought 2 Chainz might have just been hanging around on set, but then I noticed another pic of him and Ice-T and a third image that appears to be a script with his name on it and that of the character I assume he’ll be playing, Calvin “Pearlie” Jones. Going by that name, it’s probably safe to assume he’ll be playing either a pimp, drug dealer, rapper or a regular negro living in his mama’s basement.
As interested as I am in catching those details, I’m more concerned with this photo right now and what you think was going through both of their heads in this shot. Caption the pic and tell us what you think.
Last week, folks were damn near having a conniption over news that Law & Order: SVU was airing an episode eerily similar/”ripped [straight] from the headlines” of the 2009 Chris Brown-Rihanna domestic dispute. This week, it appears all that attention NBC stirred up did nothing for them in the long run.
Last night was the big airing of the “Funny Valentine” episode, which told the tale of Caleb Bryant (please note identical initials) and Micha, a hot mess of a couple whose drama consistently plays out in the media, including a violent altercation that does not end well (I won’t spoil it for people who haven’t watched yet.) As enticing as SVU writers thought reliving all of that pre-Grammy Chrianna drama would be to viewers, the episode actually did absolutely nothing for the show’s ratings.
According to TV by the Numbers:
Law & Order: SVU was flat with last week’s 1.6 adults 18-49
For the 1.6 million viewers, who we can assume are regulars considering the ratings are exactly the same as last week, the reaction to the episode was mixed. No one seemed to be outraged by it, just simply over the whole situation, especially considering the real Caleb Braynt and Micha are still in the headlines every day in real life. For the rest of the viewers though, this actually seemed to be one of the best episodes of the season in their opinion. If you didn’t get a chance to watch last night, you can check out the whole episode below. What do you think?
What’s better than watching a long, drawn out courtship and budding romance between two characters? Whether they’ve flirted with each other but never gave in to temptation, or briefly hooked up for a moment, here are 15 television pairs we wished would make it last.
Who wouldn’t root for childhood sweethearts finding true love with each other as adults? After almost 20 years apart, “Revenge’s”Amanda/Emily VanCamp and Jack Porter still harbor feelings for each other. Unfortunately, Amanda/Emily is on a quest for revenge and not love. We secretly hope she’ll forget the whole “My Dad is dead thing” and ride off into the sunset towards a happy and violent-free life with Jack.
Everyone should have seen this coming, and truthfully, we’re a little surprised it took this long to happen. But word around the Internet is that “Law & Order: SVU” will be airing an episode next week recreating the Chris Brown-Rihanna domestic debacle of 2009.
I imagine since Breezy and Ri Ri are over it, the media figures everyone else is too so talking about the situation out in the open — even as a reenactment — is fair game. And that appears to be exactly what NBC is doing. Even though the network hasn’t released an official statement on next week’s “Funny Valentine” episode, the details on The Clicker pretty much spell out all we need to know.
“A promising singer is brutally attacked by her boyfriend, a popular hip-hop star. ADA Barba (guest star Raul Esparza) works to build a case, but the victim refuses to aid the prosecution, and despite Det. Benson’s best efforts, continues to put herself in danger.”
Even more telling is the voice over on the preview which states the episode is:
“A familiar story of two celebrities intertwined by abuse.”
And then there’s the fact that they’re both black — and back together — and voilá Chris Brown and Rihanna relived.
As if there wasn’t enough going on in that episode, both Wendy Williams and Perez Hilton will be making guest appearances on the episode. Sounds like one to watch — or not. What do you think?
Some things are so great, so classic, so epic that they don’t need to be repeated. That wasn’t the case with these incredible spin-offs. From “Family Matters” to “Melrose Place,” television has seen some wonderful follow-ups that made us laugh, made us cry, and made us fall head over heels in love with some very special characters, like they were the originals.
