There has been a bit of controversy surrounding a few “Basketball Wives LA” cast members as a result of the last couple episodes of the show. Earlier this week, we reported a story on Chantel Christie, the daughter of Jackie Christie, opening up to her mom’s fellow cast member, Laura Govan, on national television about what life was like being raised by Jackie and sharing some pretty damaging family secrets that caused many to even further question Jackie’s mental stability. Of the most explosive information Chantel shared with Laura was about Jackie’s mistreatment of her older sister, Takari Lee Christie, because of her weight and darker complexion. Many of the cast members felt that Laura had crossed the line by asking to speak with Jackie’s daughters knowing that she didn’t exactly care for her. After the episode aired on Monday, many had no problem taking to Twitter and other social networks to express their disdain for Laura’s behavior.

In an exclusive interview with Vanessa Barnett of Hip Hollywood, Laura addressed the entire situation from the motives behind her two-faced ways to the reason why she was so adamant about speaking with her frenemy’s daughters in the first place. Check out what she had to say:

“I initially understood [the backlash]. Yeah, I got it. I get it and I got it from the girls. I knew it was coming. It’s funny when they say, ‘Oh, you’re two-faced,’ but then again, am I really because I don’t gossip. I just wanted her to feel the way that I felt. So it’s like when you think about it, who’s really two-faced?”

She went on to claim that all of her questionable antics regarding her and Jackie’s relationship were purely out of revenge. She also shared that she eventually had a change of heart after speaking with Chantel.

“It took away from my evil side. It made me realize what life was really about. It was a lesson, I got a lesson and I’m thankful for that lesson. That is the reality of the show. In real life I got a full lesson on the show.”

She also shared that she did not regret the way she treated Jackie claiming that the “lesson” she learned was worth her actions. We’re still waiting to find out what that lesson was, Laura. We’re also still wondering why you were vindictive enough to hit below the belt and go after someone’s child in the first place.

We haven’t heard much about Jackie and Doug Christie since the first LA season of “Basketball Wives” wrapped more than six months ago but all seems to still be well between the couple. As they do annually, Jackie and Doug renewed their vows for their wedding anniversary, this year for the 17th time, and the couple (i.e. Jackie) chose an interesting venue: a gay club.

On Sunday, July 8, the pair along with a dozen or so of their friends took over the gay club, Eleven, in West Hollywood to declare their love for each other once again and show their support of marriage equality. The ceremony took place in the upstairs lounge of the bar while patrons of the club watched from downstairs. The Christies also unveiled photos from their No H8 same-sex marriage campaign photo shoot shot just the week before. According to Outsports, Jackie gave this explanation for their unusual venue:

“The reason we wanted to do it here was we wanted to bring attention to the gay community. We are very very fond supporters. We absolutely love, adore and stand united with all people no matter what gender, doesn’t matter if you’re gay or lesbian, whatever it is we love you, and we want you to all be able to get married too, when you want to. And we’re going to keep  fighting until you’re able to, just like we are today. So thank you.”

In other Jackie Christie news, her return to BBWLA is rumored to be up in the air. Supposedly no one wants to tape wit her, especially the Govan sisters, after witnessing her crazy up close and personal so if they require those stipulations in their contract there really would be no point in the HBIC, as she called herself, appearing on the show. I’m sure they’ll come to some agreement in the name of drama when all is said and done though.

Before you throw up, read the whole story. According to Rolling Out, Jackie Christie is about to get into something even messier than the drama on “Basketball Wives”—the Adult Videos industry. She and her husband, Doug, reportedly stopped by the Ricky Smiley morning show yesterday and dropped a bomb on the airwaves: they’re making an adult film.

There is some relief to this news, and that’s the fact that Jackie and Doug won’t actually star in the movie, but they will produce the film—which makes me wonder how one decides to jump into the Adult Videos business after 20 years of marriage. And yes, I say one because this had to be all Jackie’s idea and Doug just tagged along as usual.

The couple didn’t say who the actual actors will be or why they decided to expand their media portfolio in this genre, but as we already know, Jackie is a little off so I’m sure she thinks this idea is genius—like that sad clothing line.

Jackie Christie is the first wife to officially sign on for a second season of Basketball Wives LA—figures—and yes, there will be a Season 2. But the self-professed HBIC of the BBWLA crew is also shopping her own show to BET.

According to The Insider:

“VH1 will be producing a new season of their successful show, and apparently all that reality-show drama wasn’t enough to scare Jackie Christie away because we’re also told the season’s most talked about wife, will be returning.

Jackie will have a full plate in 2012 as she prepares to release her new book aimed couples, and how to focus on intimacy. We’re also told she just shot a pilot for BET.”

No doubt, the show will revolve around her and Doug’s perfect, I-won’t-let-you-out-of-my-site marriage and I wouldn’t be surprised if BET gives it to her. It would be tough for people to resist the urge to witness her crazy antics week after week. I think they would have to keep it to 30 minutes, though. An hour alone with Jackie seems like too much.

It’s quite nice to hear Jackie Christie talk about something other than her “Basketball Wives” costars.  Very refreshing, indeed.  Recently,  she and her husband, retired basketball player, Doug Christie sat down with Carlton Jordan to talk about a variety of things, including skin color bias in the black community.

Turns out Jackie knows someone who’s working on Bill Duke’s documentary, “Dark Girls.” Aside from that she has two daughters, one with fairer skin and another who’s dark complected. See what she said about her daughters and the media’s role in perpetuating this light skin bias over at Hello Beautiful.

One of the things that makes Basketball Wives LA a little different than the Miami version is that there are more actual NBA wives on the show and Jackie Christie is one of them. She and her husband Doug Christie have been married for 16 years and she sees herself as a mentor of sorts to the other ladies on the show…well, maybe not to Tanya (“Who the BLEEP are you?”),  but she does have some interesting life experiences to share and she sat down with Madame Noire to do just that.
