It seems like recording artists don’t have the best luck when it comes to their health on airplanes.

According to ESSENCE, singer/songwriter Keri Hilson fainted on her flight home from China (she was doing some performances there) last Friday. She apparently lost consciousness and when she woke up, she couldn’t hold anything down. As she explained when she took to Twitter to tell her fans:

“I fainted on my flight. then I threw up. I’m fine now, I just need real rest…haven’t had more than 3.5hrs of sleep in 48hrs #whatdreamsrmadeof”

On a moving plane with lack of sleep and likely not enough food (performers are notorious for being so focused on the work at hand that they don’t remember to eat often, if at all), its no wonder this happened to her. Anyway, Keri made it home safely and apparently able to get some rest.

But to add insult to her own injury, Keri left her purse and her gifts on the plane – probably in haste to get off the flight.  I’m pretty sure the flight crew got everything back to her.

If you don’t have a Valentine and aren’t perusing the streets with your girls celebrating love in general, you should still observe this day of “amore” by watching some films about all things love-based. But we’re not talking the normal cheesy rom-com, but instead, movies that show the ups and downs of real love. One of two things happen when an actor steps outside of him or herself: they either win an Oscar or find it hard to work in Hollywood ever again. Film is a powerful medium and your favorite actors’ on-screen portrayal are exciting, entrenching, and even uncomfortable at times.

Maybe that’s the mark of a good story and stellar portrayal but drama is drama. It’s easy for real emotions to get all wrapped up and influenced by people on screen as if they aren’t fictional characters. You may hate them, love them or simply wish they’d never existed but for the length of the film, make believe personas become flesh and blood thanks to actor portrayals.

The following screen stars dug deep, transforming themselves into characters that couldn’t be further from the truth of who they really are. Case in point:

More than once, Halle has hit the nail on the head as a crackhead (Jungle Fever, Saving Isaiah) and it’s hard to forget her over-the-top homegirl role in B.A.P.S. No, none of these roles are how anyone would most like to remember Halle Berry.

Historically, some folks side-eyed black male celebrities who would use white wives as status symbols. For real, these men would get a new house, a new car, and secure a new white woman as their way of proving to themselves that they were no longer “slaves.” Their white wife or girlfriend validated them. Nowadays however, men and women can marry whomever they want without folks thinking they’re doing it because “they’re slave-minded.” People of all shades and colors have found that racism is a crazy concept that inspired crazy people to enslave and colonize others.

Still, there are some celebrity men (uhm, I’m looking at you Slim Thug, and you too, random “entertainment journalist”) who are color-drunk and stuck in the 19th century–so some women do complain about who’s marrying the “sisters.” Well, we’re ALL sisters no matter the shade–light bright or cocoa dark, but if you’re referring to chocolate sisters, quite a few superstars have chocolate wives.
