Indique Provides Makeovers for Breast Cancer Survivors

Surviving something as serious as breast cancer is no easy feat and should be celebrated. With that spirit in mind, the women of Indique Hair partnered with CancerCare to provide makeovers to several breast cancer survivors. Indique donated over 140 lace front wigs, celebrity hairstylists, including “The View’s” Lavette Slater worked on hair and celebrity makeup artists crafted perfect faces.

When I was growing up my grandmother was always telling my sister and I that our hair was our beauty. This message was in direct contradiction to what my mother was telling us. “It’s just hair. You cut it. It grows back.” Thankfully my mother didn’t subscribe to her mother’s philosophy. If she had she might have come unglued when she was diagnosed with breast cancer in late 2008.

While my mother has said time and time again that her hair was never the thing about her; she still went through an ordeal when she lost it all. Listen to a conversation I had with my mom recently as she details her hair journey.
