After being publicly served by Kevin Hart on social media last week, comedian Mike Epps luck may have made a turn for the better.
At a premiere party in April for Marlon Wayans “A Haunted House 2”, Epps allegedly punched ex-lover, Simone Shepherd in the face during a confrontation. Shepherd called the police and filed a report, but cops reported there was no sign of injury when they arrived on the scene. Witnesses claim the woman was nothing more than an overzealous fan who felt slighted and resorted to throwing drinks when Epps asked her for privacy. Epps claims he didn’t touch Shepherd.
Law enforcement sources are now telling TMZ that Epps will not be charged but he has been ordered to attend a City Attorney hearing where he’ll be lectured on the law and the intention of keeping the peace. Shepherd has been ordered to attend as well.
We don’t condone violence in any way, shape or form, but admittedly a lot of celebrity men lately seem to be getting hit with lawsuits left and right from bitter women who seem to think the end of a relationship means their bank account should make a come up when they aren’t compensated as they thought they should be for being involved with them. We hope both can make a change for the better.
Back in 2008, R&B singer Chris Brown’s good guy image went down the tubes when he was brought up on assault charges for brutally attacking his girlfriend Rihanna. In 2009, Brown’s plea bargain deal obligated him to complete 1,140 hours of community service. After 581 hours were completed in Los Angeles where the assault occurred, Brown was permitted to complete the remaining hours in his home state of Virginia; however, that doesn’t appear to have worked out too well. Brown claimed to have completed his required hours, but last week, the L.A. County district attorney came out stating that documents confirming community service hours completed by Brown in the state of Virginia had been falsified and contained multiple discrepancies. Now it seems that the scolding hot water that Brown has found himself in has also fallen into the lap of Virginia Police Chief, Bryan Norwood. Information discovered during investigations into the alleged faulty hours suggest that Norwood’s carelessness equipped Brown in cheating his way out of community service. As a result, the police chief who served Richmond, Virginia since 2008 resigned today, reports the New York Post.
“As of today I’ve accepted the resignation of Bryan Norwood from his post as chief of police for the city of Richmond. He has offered leadership that has brought us a little bit further in our endeavors to improve public safety. In many ways the Richmond Police Department and the city is better off because of his dedication. We’ve reached, however, a mutual agreement, at this time, that his time as Richmond police chief has come to an end. We certainly wish Chief Norwood much luck in his endeavors going forward,” announced Mayor Dwight Jones.
Prosecutors say evidence proves that the Richmond police signed off on community service hours that Brown claimed to have completed on days where he was globetrotting. For example, on March 15th Brown’s paperwork claims that he picked up trash between the hours of 10 am and 6 pm; however Homeland Security documents reveal that Brown caught a flight to Cancun at 4 pm that day.
The evidence doesn’t look good for Brown or Norwood. Chris is set to appear back in court April 5th where the Los Angeles D.A. is motioning to throw out all of his Virginia hours and have him redo them in Los Angeles.

The saga continues… On Wednesday, we reported that Katt Williams announced his retirement from stand-up comedy on a Seattle street to a local news anchor after being ejected from the hotel he was staying in. It seems that a mere 2 days later, the comedian has changed his mind or maybe his management team has changed it for him. TMZ is reporting that Katt’s managers released a statement that Katt actually is not retiring and provided an explanation behind Katt’s bizarre retirement.
“Katt is definitely NOT retiring. He will be moving forward with the tour … Friday is Texas, Saturday New Orleans, and on to Alabama. The reason why he made remarks was due to him feeling totally disrespected by all the things that happen to him in the city of Seattle. He had a moment where he felt very unappreciated. He now just wants to move forward from those unfortunate events and give his fans outstanding shows from this point forward.
Katt’s retirement was the only thing that went down during his visit to Seattle. If you recall, he was also arrested for his involvement in a bar fight where he threatened the bars owner and patrons with a pool cue and tossed a cigarette at a woman. As a result of the incident, Katt was charged with two counts of fourth degree misdemeanor assaults; however according to the Daily News, the comedian didn’t show up to his court hearing yesterday in relation to the assaults.
Katt’s attorney, Thomas McAllister, told the judge that his client was under the impression that he did not have to appear in court at the hearing. The hearing has been rescheduled for next week.
It is very evident that Katt’s mental and emotional health is plummeting, but I wonder when the people around him are going to say enough is enough and get him some help.
Do you think Katt really wanted to retire, but his management isn’t allowing him to?
