There was a time Khoudia Diop didn’t want to stand out. After moving to New York City from her native of Senegal, Khoudia found herself teased by other teens because of her dark complexion and starting to retreat. But after a while, Khoudia began to embrace her gorgeous skin tone, giving birth to her identity as the “melanin goddess” and also pursuing her dream of becoming a model. Now the 19 year old has absolutely no problem standing out from the crowd, especially as part of a national beauty campaign.

Khoudia is one of the stars of MAKE UP FOR EVER’s new #BlendInStandOut campaign in which individuals of all ethnicities and walks of life discuss how they use the brand’s Ultra HD Invisible Cover Liquid Foundation to “blend in” while also sharing how they have the confidence to stand out from the crowd.

“I was bullied a lot being a kid so I feel like I’m standing out because I realize who I really am,” Khoudia says in the campaign. “I feel beautiful when my makeup looks great.”

Repped by The Colored Girl, the creative agency whose work aims to “celebrate, empower and unite women by bringing awareness to the myriad of experiences of all women using creative outlets,” extended the #BlendInStandOut movement with their own version of the campaign which also stars Khoudia and other women of color who are advocates for diverse beauty.
