Just yesterday we told you about Dove’s newest launch — the Dermacare Scalp Anti-Dandruff 2 in 1 Shampoo and Conditioner — and last night we got a chance to try the new product firsthand at Ursula Stephen The Salon in Brooklyn.
Though dandruff has never been a problem for me, I am no foreigner to drying shampoos and one of the benefits of the Dermacare 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner is not just flake-free hair, but strands that are also moisturized, shiny, and not stripped of the essential oils needed for a healthy head of hair. I’m happy to say my hair feels like the brand made good on its promise. When I arrived at the salon, I was immediately taken to the wash bowl to have my hair cleansed with the new 2 in 1 duo. After three shampoos, I was prepared to hear a remark about how dry my hair is (I told you, I skimp on my deep conditioning), but instead, I was met with compliments about my curls and how healthy my hair is. Plus, my mane had bounce and a nice amount of softness for not having applied a separate rinse out conditioner or any other product after cleansing.
When I sat in the stylist’s chair, she only applied two products before blow-drying my hair: Dove’s Absolute Quench Leave-In Detangler and the Supreme Créme Serum. Both members of the Advanced Hair Series were created specifically for women with curly, coarse hair and two drops of the serum was literally all that was rubbed through my hair to coat it and keep it moisturized.
From there, my hair was quickly parted and sectioned in bantu knots which were taken down one by one and blow-dryed with a Twin Turbo blowdryer and Denman brush for extra straightening. After that, the famed Ursula Stephen worked her magic with the scissors. I only wanted a slight trim since I hadn’t had my ends clipped since Mid-November, and the finished product was a sleek blowout that I’m happy to say is still as light, bouncy, shiny and frizz-free as it was when I left the shop 24 hours ago. I should mention that it’s been raining non-stop since the time I entered the shop yesterday afternoon and the rainy, humid New York weather has not permeated my strands one bit. Shout out to Dove for having me covered in more ways than one.
