Everyday Couples Giving Us Serious #RelationshipGoals

This past weekend, the hashtag #ForeverDuncan went viral. It brought many of us joy and had us crafting our own #relationshipgoals in our minds. As we previously reported, “on October 1, 2016, Alfred decided to do something special for Sherrell. Alfred, a Grammy and Emmy nominated artist, proposed to Sherrell, a fitness trainer and speaker, at noon and married her at 5 p.m. in National Harbor, Maryland.”

Because of Alfred’s lavish and grand gesture, we started thinking about all of the other couples whose love we love and who make us continuously believe in the power of it. Two is definitely better than one! Take a look at our favorite pictures of couples who’ve shared their story via social media. They are getting engaged, expecting a baby, tying the knot or just enjoying each other’s company and giving us serious #relationshipgoals. Love is a beautiful thing, ladies and gents.

"I didn't have my first boyfriend until my 30th birthday. I was in the dating dumps throughout all of my 20's. All of my friends were getting married and having children, and I couldn't get a guy to stick around for more than a week. Finally I met someone through a mutual connection who I went on to date for about a year before it ended. That relationship made me realize that as bad as I wanted to be in love and get married, I also wasn't willing to settle. I realized the problem was me. I needed to CHILL. I was so panicked to find someone, that I wasn't enjoying the process. That's when I decided to download @eHarmony and changed my whole mindset towards dating. I refused to continue sitting home on Friday nights crying in my pajamas and feeling bad for myself. Nope! Gone were the days of playing the victim card. I decided it was time to get excited about meeting new people again. And as soon as I changed my negative thoughts about dating, my negative outcomes disappeared as well. All of a sudden I was lining up dates left and right. None of them were a good fit romantically, but at least I was having fun! Then, right before my eHarmony membership was about to expire, I received a message from Dion. I instantly had a good feeling about him. Fast forward two years later and I'm happy to say he's still my babe! We've traveled quite a bit together and he encourages me to do whatever the heck I want. He pushes me out of my comfort zone- for example he taught me how to rock climb- but he'll also sit on the couch with me all day and watch Blacklist. I'm no longer worried about when I'm going to get married or have children, I'm just enjoying experiencing life with Dion. Online dating is a great avenue to meet people, sometimes it just requires an attitude adjustment. There's probably some amazing men "living under rocks" right now because they're having the same doubts that you are." *eHarmony works! Get started for free! "If you would have told me I was going to meet my husband at an erotic poetry reading in South Korea, I would have told you you were crazy. But it just goes to show how unpredictable life is. Back in 2010, I was working in Seoul when I had been asked to recite a few poems at an erotic poetry show. I took public transportation to the venue and packed my dress and heels in a bag so I wouldn't have to wear them on the 2 hour train ride. When I arrived, I headed straight to the washroom to change. However, to get to the washroom, I had to walk outside and into another building. On my way back, now in heels and a little black dress, I bumped into a handsome man standing outside. He smiled at me, and I smiled back. When the show began, I got up on stage and read my poems. I was so nervous, I didn't notice the same man from outside watching me from the crowd. He then took the stage right after me. As DeAndre recited his erotic poems, he looked straight at me the entire time. It was pretty intense and hot! After the show, he came up to me and said, "I don't care where you're going after this, but I'm joining you." Admittedly, I was intrigued by his forwardness. We spent the rest of the night dancing and laughing. He then put me in a cab and promised we'd see each other again one day. He left Korea for the states 3 days later. Soon after, my contract ended and I went backpacking through South East Asia. I then took another contract in Morocco. All the while, DeAndre was deployed in Iraq. We would email and speak on the phone as much as possible. In Summer of 2013, I was living in Toronto. DeAndre had some vacation time saved up so he decided to come visit me for 2 weeks. To be honest, I was never the romantic type and being independent was a huge part of my identity. But when DeAndre left to return to the US, he took my heart with him. A year later, his contract with the Army was up and he moved to Canada. He enrolled in culinary school to become a chef and we began our life together. We were married in December 2014- exactly 4 years after the day we met. Now I'm a bona fide hippie loving tree hugger who loves love, kale, and healing circles. Who would have thought?"
