Sometimes you need to go above and beyond the call of duty in order to land a promotion or raise. For the most part, your manager knows your job duties. He or she was probably the one who hired you. That won’t stop them from asking for assistance if and when needed for the overall good of the company. If you aren’t willing to budge they might be less inclined to help you out down the road.
