The ex-boyfriend of famed lyricist Lil’ Kim, Damion “World” Hardy, has narrowly dodged death by legal injection, per the orders of U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, the New York Daily News reports.

Specific reasoning for the ruling has not been specified, but Hardy, who was accused of carrying out six murders nearly a decade ago while running a ruthless drug crew called the Cash Money Brothers, is a known schizophrenic. Brooklyn prosecutors have also dropped the death penalty for Hardy’s co-defendant Aaron Granton. Back in 2007, the death penalty for the murder of rival Ivery Davis was originally authorized by then-Attorney General Michael Mukasey.

The decision was disclosed yesterday in court, with Hardy participating by videoconference from a Missouri prison hospital. According to reports, he is being forcibly medicated with antipsychotic drugs that will help restore him to mental competency. Hardy, however, made it clear that he’s unhappy with the medication he’s currently on.

“Block, I’m ready to plead to something low!” he shouted to Federal Judge Frederic Block during the conference. “What about the medication? I wasn’t supposed to be medicated this long. If you don’t clarify it, I’ll keep getting medicated!”

Hardy’s relationship with Kim seemed to be a serious one, as the two were reportedly engaged and living together in her New Jersey mansion at some point. He eventually suffered some sort of mental breakdown, began accusing Kim of being  a part of a secret society and started to refer to himself as Messiah.
