When she initially signed on to be a part of the biopic, Jennifer Lopez was under the impression that she was going to be providing her own vocals, singing Selena’s songs. But ultimately folks behind the scenes decided it was a better idea to use Selena’s vocals since her voice and image were still so fresh in the minds of her fans and they probably wouldn’t approve of hearing anyone else in her place. So Lopez was trained extensively by a vocal coach on how to lip sync.
