There has to be a lot of pressure to be deemed a relationship expert, but Madame Demetria Lucas, also known as the “A Belle in Brooklyn” seems quite capable of handling the pressure.
Lucas, who has a popular blog “A Belle in Brooklyn”, a column in Essence magazine and is regularly invited to speak on dating/relationships has become the proverbial black Carrie Bradshaw.
At first, there doesn’t seem to be anything out-of-the-ordinary about the savvy New York writer. Her adorable, thoughtfully decorated apartment is adorned with pictures of friends, music, movie posters and art she loves. Lucas, a D.C. native, worked as a freelance writer and book editor when she initially moved to the city.
But beyond the exterior is a deep sense of self. So deep, that she’s been able to serve as a landing point for women in need of love guidance.
