Imagine going to hell and back and coming out a victor only to turn into the biggest loser.  That is what has happened to Ja’Nel Witt.

Witt is the first African-American woman to win the intense reality cooking show Hell’s Kitchen only to have to turn down the grand prize — the head-chef position at Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant in Vegas — because she tested positive for coke.

According to TMZ, Caesars Palace required Witt to submit to a drug test in order to take the job at the Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill. She earned the post after winning Season 11 of Hell’s Kitchen earlier this year. The hotel and resort reportedly has a very strict no-drugs policy.  When Witt failed they quickly released her from her contract.  They will however let her keep her salary — $250,000.

Are you disappointed to hear that the first black women to win the popular show was taken down in scandal?

I don’t blame them. You cant lead an entire team of people doped up on drugs. What was she thinking? I know they had to drug test her before she got on the shoe meaning that she quit long enough to win and then afterwards she went right back to it. Smh

Damn girl! You couldn’t stay away from the stuff until you were secured in your job. You have issues. Use that prize money and get some help.

If she wants to take drugs, that’s her business. Obviously, it’s not affecting her cooking or work ethic! IJS…can a sista live?!???!

    • Drew

Yes — however, said sista will have to do her living while being self-employed.

She should have known better especially with being on national tv.

Awwwww, frig! No way! Well, drug tests can and have been false positives, so I’m really hoping deep, deep way down in my soul that it was mistake. However, business is business, so I understand the Palace’s policy. I wish the best for her. At least they let her keep the money.

This is very sad to hear I was really hoping she won! My prayers are with her and I hope she can bounce back from this!

Sad and unfortunate. I watched that season and she was good. She has to get rid of her demons. My thoughts and prayers are with her.
