Madonna loves to be the center of controversy. She’s made a career of turning heads and dominating the news coverage with her sexually suggestive lyrics and persona. The “Like A Virgin” singer (who named herself after the mother of God) managed to ruffle the feathers of Christian leaders back in 2006 during her Confessions tour. Halfway through the concert, Madonna appeared on a mirrored cross wearing a crown of thorns. Although she explained it was supposed to illustrate a theme of confession, religious leaders were still fuming. NBC opted to edit that part of the concert out when a special featuring the singer on tour aired the following month.
