Hollywood star Halle Berry made headlines in 1997 for a hit-and-run accident but don’t ask her for any details because she doesn’t remember. Berry’s rental SUV ran a red light and smashed into another car. Suffering from amnesia, Berry drove home not realizing there was a gash on her head. After seeking medical treatment, she reported the accident. The Monster’s Ball star pleaded no contest to leaving the scene of an accident and was fined $300, put on three years’ probation and ordered to perform 200 hours of community service. Berry volunteered at a shelter for battered women and children in L.A. to complete her community service. Saying she found her calling, Berry continues to volunteer at the Jenesse Center “It changed my life,” said Berry. “I hadn’t been doing enough. It was time.”
