Herb Reed, an original founding member of the 1950’s vocal group the Platters, died on June 20 from complications related to chronic lung disease. The Platters achieved greatness by appealing to a wide audience, and earned a rightful place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Reed is survived by his son and three grandsons.
