As we all know, being a mom is a full time job. At times we need to cash in on our hard work and reward ourselves. After a full week of putting our children first, giving ourselves a bit of attention seems so farfetched and nonexistent. Yet, it’s much needed. Imagine working around the clock at your job but never receiving a paycheck. You are not going to stand for that! Now use that analogy towards your nonstop job as a mother. You must be rewarded for your outstanding feat. Although motherhood is such a rewarding experience, sometimes we need a day off to recharge and gear up for the week ahead of us. As a mom, we don’t really ask for much. The simplest things such as a quiet house for just a few hours, will bring us so much joy. Outside of a quiet home, here are 10 other simple ways that every mom can reward themselves weekly.

Read A Non-Work Related Book

Working a full-time job or being a mompreneur adds to the workload of being a mom. At the end of a long week, you want to relax with a good book that doesn’t involve kids or your work. Take a moment to yourself and curl up in a cozy corner with a book that will help your imagination to escape and be free. You’ll find yourself looking forward to peeling back the pages of a great book weekly.

Go Window Shopping

Shopping is a girl’s best friend. It’s a great way to become inspired by items that you intend on buying, whenever your time and budget permits. Take a day off by relaxing and visiting your favorite store, while creating a wishlist of your favorite items. Soon you’ll be looking forward to adding more items and eventually checking a few off of the list!

Take A Bath

Something as simple as taking a bath can go such a long way. Relax by adding some of your favorite features to this alone time. Turn off the lights, light a candle, play some of your favorite mellow tunes, zone out and let Calgon take you away! Afterwards, slip on your “fancy” pajamas and treat yourself to a good night’s sleep.

Workout

A quick trip to the gym or a swift jog around the park is also considered “me time.”  Working out is not only beneficial to your physical health, but your mental health as well. Exercising promotes great energy and helps to focus on something besides your children (for a moment lol).

Glass Of Wine

Having a glass of wine is a great reward to a stressful week. During your quiet time alone, enjoy the relaxation that a glass of wine provides.

Watch Your Favorite TV Shows

After a long week of watching Sesame Street and Yo Gabba Gabba, it’s time to own your television for the day. Open the recordings on your DVR and catch up on your favorite shows. Let the kids know that mom is the queen of the remote until you’ve completely caught up and prepared for what’s to come in the upcoming week.

Pray/Meditate

Prayer and meditation is one of the best things you can do to reward yourself and recharge. Although, this can be done at anytime, here’s a chance to unplug from all your devices and noise to just focus. Prayer will bring clarity into any situation and a refreshing calm to your daily life.

Buy Yourself A Gift

Remember that wishlist you accumulated over time from rewarding yourself with window-shopping? Now is the time to scratch something off of that list and buy yourself something you’ve had your eye on for quite some time. Pat yourself on the back by treating yourself to something you really want. Be unapologetic in your purchase, you deserve it!

Mani & Pedi

Rewarding yourself by looking great is an amazing treat to look forward to. A manicure and pedicure goes a mighty long way to a woman that’s been washing dishes and doing laundry all week long. A hand & foot massage and a fresh paint job will feel like full spa experience!

Food With Friends

When you want to reward yourself with an adult conversation, meet up with your besties and grab a bite to eat. At times, moms feel like we’re out of touch with the real world because we focus so much on our household and children. With a great convo with your best girlfriends, you’ll be sure to get caught up with everything that you may have missed during your busy week!
