(Chicago Tribune) — A .50-caliber pistol was recovered over the weekend and dozens of felons arrested during a new initiative launched byChicago police to target violent neighborhoods with the help of other law enforcement agencies.
Working with these agencies — such as the FBI or Cook County sheriff’s department — is not a completely new idea, but Chicago police are now asking for specific help from the other entities, drawing on expertise from each one.
The cooperation also puts more law enforcement officers in some of Chicago’s most crime-ridden areas at a time when hiring has slowed at the department.
