Should They Have Stayed? Flames Before The Fame and Fortune
These celebs were happily married or together before or just when they were beginning to be noticed by the world. But they’re all divorced/separated now. Do you think their former significant other is now kicking the ground wishing they were still together? Hey, you have to wonder!
Kevin & Torrei Hart
These two were married in 2003, which is about a year or so before Kevin was ever seen by the masses (Soul Plane came out a year later). They separated a year ago and the divorce was actually just finalized last Wednesday. Rumors have swirled that Kevin’s stardom had begun to shine so bright that marriage just couldn’t be part of the equation anymore. A video of one of Torrei’s stand-up shows (yep, she’s a comedian too) surfaced earlier this year where she was going in on Kevin. But he continues to gain popularity…I wonder if she’ll be wishing she should have “done more” to see if it could work.
Jill Scott & Lyzel Williams
I don’t know about you all but once I heard “HE Loves Me (Lyzel in E Flat),” I thought it would last forever. But Jill stated in ESSENCE that he’d stopped eating her cooking which was an indication that he wasn’t happy…along with other reasons, of course. When a man no longer wants to eat your food, he’s speaking to you through his actions. But Jill hasn’t seemed to have much luck in the relationship department lately so do you think Lyzel could come back in and sweep her off her feet?
Will Smith and Sheree Zampino
It only lasted three years but Will has gone on record to say that his marriage with Sheree not working is the only thing he considers a failure. He was right in the midst of his DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince/The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air mass hysteria and they were just too young. But what if the rumors of he and Jada splitting up ring true? Do you guys think he’ll ever go back to Sheree? It is no secret that there’s no bad blood between them. Hmmm…
Martin Lawrence & Patricia Southhall
Well, we couldn’t even find a picture of these two together which is pretty odd considering Patricia was with him during his Martin days and the first Bad Boys movie. But don’t cry for Pat: she married NFL legend Emmitt Smith in 2000 and never looked back!
Steve Harvey and Mary Harvey
Where to begin? We wanted to show you a picture of Marcia, Steve’s first wife and mother of his three oldest children. But being the smart woman she is, Marcia seemingly not only got out of the marriage early but has also managed to keep her identity under wraps. Smart woman and perhaps Mary Harvey, Steve’s second wife, should have done the same. Those two were married for 16 years and what a tangled web there was at the end. Mary accused Steve of “stealing and brainwashing” their son as well as cheating on her with his now third wife, Marjorie. But maybe had Mary turned a blind eye they would still be together? THIS is the man Black Women are allowing to tell them how to have successful relationships, though.
Kimberly Elise & Maurice Oldham
Kimberly and Maurice were married in 1989 and they divorced in 2005. Wow, 16 years and two children. In all honesty, I recall reading an article about her where she mentioned her marriage (this was right around the time “Woman Thou Art Loosed” was released) and knew instantly that she would divorce him. It just seems like it takes a special kind of person to not only be married while in Hollywood but to still be with the person who knew you before you made it “big time.” Sadly, we may never know how Maurice felt about all of this because he passed away in 2007.
