An Almost 50-Year-Old Mo’Nique Is The Fitness Inspiration You Didn’t Know You Needed

Mo’Nique has been hard at work for the last few years not just dropping the pounds, but embracing an all-around healthier lifestyle. In 2014 she shared that she’d lost more than 80 pounds, and since then, she’s definitely lost more as she’s changed her diet and made intense workouts with trainer Dwight Holt, Jr. a regular thing. What started off as a desire to change things so she could be present for her family has become something it’s clear Mo is happily addicted to. We’re here for it.

I was reminded of how far the actress and comedian has come in her fitness journey when she posted video this week of herself pulling off a complicated yoga move she’d been working on for some time. Her excitement over her accomplishment, being able to hold and control her core, and the enthusiasm in which she encouraged her followers to keep working hard at whatever they’re doing to improve themselves, impressed me. It made me realize she’s the fitness inspiration many of us probably didn’t know we could use.

She’s someone who has managed to keep off an extensive weight loss, dance with fervor and passion that even the youngin’s probably couldn’t keep up with, and at almost 50 (she turns the big 5-0 in December), she seems to be in her best shape ever.
