“Being Mary Jane” is coming to an end. According to Deadline, the series finale, set to air in 2018, will be a two-hour movie, just like the premiere of the show back in 2013.
When the made for tv movie aired in July 2013, it drew in 4 million viewers and was immediately followed up with the series premiere in January.
The decision to make the fifth season a movie comes three weeks after the season 4 finale aired on September 19. As we’ve previously reported, Mara Brock Akil, the creator of the series along with her husband Salim Akil, ran the first three seasons of the show until they left last year to pursue a deal with Warner Bros. TV.
Will Packer then came on as producer but also left for a deal with CBS TV Studios.
The series finale movie comes as Union’s deal with BET is coming to an end.
Are you sad the series is coming to an end or do you believe it’s time to wrap things up?
