Viola Davis To Star In New ABC Comedy “Black Don’t Crack”
Viola Davis is busy and booked. In addition to starring in ABC’s hit show “How To Get Away With Murder,” the Oscar winning actress is partnering with writer, comedian and co-creator of “Insecure,” Larry Wilmore on another comedy for ABC called “Black Don’t Crack.”
The show will be written and executive produced by another Black woman Regina Hicks, who serves as the co-executive producer for “Insecure.”
It will focus on three former sorority sisters who lost touch with one another after college and reunite during a turning point in each one of their lives. They realize that now that they’ve reached a certain age, no one will be there for them, like their sisters.
Davis and her husband/producing-partner Julius Tennon, who recently starred as her would-be love interest in HTGAWM, will executive produce through their JuVee Productions company along with Wilmore through Wilmore Films.
The show is a part of Davis and Tennon’s deal with ABC to produce original content.
