Naya Rivera Calls Off Divorce From Husband Ryan Dorsey, Reportedly For Sake Of Their Son
Back in November, news surfaced that actress Naya Rivera was pulling the plug on her marriage to fellow actor Ryan Dorsey after two years together and welcoming their son, Josey, 2. But nearly a year after filing, it seems that Rivera has had a change of heart. According to court documents obtained by The Blast, she filed to dismiss their divorce last week.
Dismissal of a divorce can mean different things, but most assume that the couple in question are choosing to work things out. A source told E! News that they want to try and reconcile for the sake of their son.
The former Glee actress, 30, and her estranged husband, 34, tied the knot in 2014. The two dated in 2010 and she would later reveal that she aborted the child she had with him that same year in an effort to focus on her burgeoning career. Rivera and Dorsey reunited in 2014, soon after her split from rapper Big Sean, and were married on the exact date that she was supposed to wed her former fiancé. In November, the pair put out a statement to PEOPLE saying they were calling it quits.
“After much consideration, we have made the decision to end our marriage,” the statement read. “Our priority is and always will be our beautiful son that we share together. We will continue to be great co-parenting partners for him. We ask for respect and privacy for our family during this difficult time.”
In the time since then though, it seems that the couple have decided to slow things down when it comes to their divorce proceedings and chose to altogether end them. Maybe the pair truly are fated to be together, as they said when they announced their marriage in July 2014.
“We feel truly blessed to be joined as husband and wife,” they told PEOPLE. “Our special day was fated and everything we could have ever asked for.”
