Child Services Launches Investigation Against Tyrese While Ex Wife Claims He’s Bipolar
Last month, we reported that tensions were rising between Tyrese and his ex wife Norma. While it seemed the two were co-parenting peacefully, they ended up back the news after Norma claimed that their 10-year-old daughter Shayla told her, “Mum, Dad beat me so hard that it hurts when I sit down.”
According to Norma, the beating happened as a result of Shayla taking money out of her piggy bank. She says Tyrese “went into a rage, pushed our daughter to the ground, pinned her face down, put his knees on her back, grabbed her hands with one arm and beat her with the other.”
According to TheJasmineBrand, Norma’s court documents allege that Tyrese struck their daughter between 12-16 times. She also claimed Tyrese has been diagnosed with Bipolar disorder as well as manic behavior by three psychotherapists–a claim which he’s denied.
And, as she told MadameNoire exclusively, Tyrese was verbally and physically abusive to her throughout their marriage. In another interview, Norma said some of the abuse took place when she was pregnant with their daughter.
In response to this August 19 incident with her daughter, she filed for an order of protection which was granted. It kept Tyrese from having contact with either Norma or his daughter until a hearing they had on October 2.
But now, two days later, the Department of Children and Family Services has launched an investigation. In the midst of this, Norma is seeking to make the restraining order one that permanently prohibits him from disciplining their daughter. She is also seeking full physical and legal custody.
Tyrese has yet to respond to the new claims but after the original restraining order was granted, he posted an image of the three together, suggesting that Norma was only hurt now because he’d married another woman.
9 hours ago, after the news of the investigation broke, Tyrese shared this image of himself and his daughter.
We’ll be sure to keep you posted.
