At the top of the year, veteran actress Jenifer Lewis posted a very serene picture of herself, holding her dog, wearing a bathrobe and a matching terrycloth turban. While the picture sent a message of peace, the accompanying message did not.
She wrote in September on 2015, she learned that Tony Wilson, the man she was dating, the man she planned “to build a life” with was not only a convicted felon but a career criminal for the past 25 years. Dude was such a con artist that his name wasn’t Tony Wilson at all, it was Brice Carrington.
Sadly, Lewis only learned of this information after she’d invested $50,000 into Wilson/Carrington’s bogus sound effects business. The two met at LA Fitness, where Wilson was working as a club manager.
When Lewis reached out to LA Fitness to inform them of their con artist employee, they protected him, forwarding the email she sent to the company to Wilson, which allowed him to bring her to court and sue, claiming that she tried to have him fired from his job.
In response, Lewis brought a suit against both Tony Wilson and LA Fitness.
She released this statement about the case in January 2017. Now, at nearly the end of the year, the courts have reached a decision. And it would seem that Lewis didn’t make out all that bad.
The actress settled with LA Fitness for $13,000. As a result of her win, she dismissed her lawsuit with the fitness company.
