UPDATE 9/22: Despite reports that the broadcast of TV One’s Bobbi Kristina had been blocked by a judge, in a statement from our sister company, which is Interactive One, it’s been confirmed that the film is still set to air. The film will premiere on TV One on October 8, not October 17.
While it’s true that Bobby Brown and the estate of Bobbi Kristina Brown have filed a lawsuit in an attempt to gain an injunction to stop the airing, the court has not made a decision on that request.
We’ve been reporting about the Bobbi Kristina biopic for weeks now. And just when the the trailer for the film came out, a judge has blocked the broadcasting of it.
According to a report from WENN as well as Page Six, a New York judge has temporarily blocked the broadcast the biopic.
The TV One film was set to air on October 17 and would cover the final days of the late 22-year-old’s life.
But her father Bobby Brown filed a suit earlier this month claiming that he was depicted as a bad dad and a violent husband to the late Whitney Houston.
In addition, Bobbi Kristina’s estate joined him to shut down the project insisting that it violated her privacy. Together Brown and the estate demanded $2 million in damages.
The judge issued a ban and ordered the parties to appear in court on September 29 to argue their case.
The judge will decide later whether or not to permanently bar the movie’s release.
