Jermaine Fowler, The Announcer

You may have noticed that there was a different voice commentating throughout the Emmy’s. His announcing felt like a conversation with his opinions inserted in there with the information. He gave props to the shows and people he loved. While some thought his style was unprofessional, it was authentic, unique and, in my opinion, a welcomed change from the norm. CBS Entertainment EVP Jack Sussman said this in an interview with Deadline about Fowler, “What most awards show do is have the announcer locked in a closet reading from a script on cue. What we will do is have Jermaine be an active part of the show. He will be connected with what’s happened on the telecast and what happens next. What we want to do is get a peek behind the curtain in a fun, engaging way.”
