And just like that, folks, Season 2 of Insecure has come and gone. We didn’t know what to expect from last night’s finale, but things wrapped in a way that works — what you assumed would happen didn’t, who you thought would get it together, didn’t, and those who really needed to speak their peace were finally able to. Still, what would a finale recap be without questions for the future? Until Season 3, friends…
Finally Done Seeing Lawrence?
I like Jay Ellis, but lawd, I was so tired of Lawrence as a character leading up to the finale that I couldn’t take it anymore. His lack of backbone in most things (he would only make decisions based on what those around him told him he should do) reiterated the point that it’s not just the assumed women of the series who are Insecure, but the men, too. And more than my weariness of the character, the goodbye at Issa’s apartment and the awkward hello at Daniel’s gives the impression we might all be getting ready to move on from Lawrence.
