Andrea Grinage, a 31-year-old mother of three, had to deliver her daughter Journey Aleah seven weeks early. Her premature labor was brought on by the fact that her boyfriend and father of once-unborn child set her on burn, resulting in burns to 90 percent of her body.
Grinage told police that her boyfriend was responsible and said he poured flammable liquid on her before setting her on fire. The boyfriend even told Grinage that he was on his way to attack her other family members.
A spokeswoman for the Prince George’s County police said, “She was very brave. We want her family to know how brave she was, suffering as badly as she was — critically burned, worried about her unborn child, dealing with those injuries and was able to share that information with us so that we could get moving with our investigation and locate this person.”
About her boyfriend’s motive, Grinage said, “It all stems from him not wanting to take responsibility of him being a newborn dad.”
In response to the tragedy, Grinage’s father has set up a Go Fund Me for his daughter’s medical expenses.
Grinage named her daughter Journey Aleah.
