After Partying and Procrastination Queen Latifah Says She’s Ready For Children

I thought about starting this piece making reference to Queen Latifah’s perpetual singleness and her willingness to change that. But truth be told, we really don’t know a damn thing about Queen Latifah’s personal life. Aside from the snap shots we’ve seen of her with Jeanette Jenkins years ago, we don’t know anything about not only her love life but much of her personal life as well.
Well, recently she let us take a sneak peek at a little of it, while sitting on a panel during the Television Critics Association for “Star” when she mentioned wanting to start a family.
The 47-year-old said, “You’ll know when you see me with the rugrat on my shoulder with the little backpack and all this. ‘Oh, she did it!’” she said. “That’s kind of how it will happen.”
Later, she told E! News that procrastination and partying have been what halted her motherhood journey in the past.
“I’m a little bit of a procrastinator,” she said. “I had some things to deal with. I had to get a lot of partying out of my system early in life for about 40 years. You know what I’m saying. I’m good now. I think I’m ready.”
This isn’t the first time she’s mentioned wanting children. Back in 2012, Latifah told Barbara Walters on “The View” that she was looking into adoption.
”I’m actually kind of working on that. I think I saw one of those specials, you know those movies of the week. And it was like — I just always wanted to bring a child home. I’m totally serious. So if you got a kid that you don’t…Just give me a year — let me set up camp and send me the kid! But no, no, totally.”
