We’ve known how important representation is and slowly but surely other corporate entities are starting to get the message as well.

Retail giant Nordstrom has shown they’re among the fold recently with their fall 2017 campaign, which celebrates having a voice. In addition to several other creatives, the campaign features Homer Hans Bryant and the other women of the dance company he’s created, Hiplet (pronounced Hip Lay).

Next to a striking image of these young women, a quote from Bryant reads, “There’s an old African proverb that goes,

‘Plan with a purpose, prepare with prayer, proceed with positivity and pursue with persistence. That is what hiplet is all about.”

More concretely, Hiplet is group of classically trained ballerinas and the most senior dancers at the Chicago Multi-Cultural Dance Center.

The group showcases dancers en pointe as they contort, strut and dip around the floor, interplaying hip-hop movements with classical styles.
