With the success of Girls Trip, comedic actress Tiffany Haddish’s star is only expected to rise. Already, she’s been tapped for her own stand-up special on Showtime, and we’re certain other TV and movie roles will rapidly start rolling in. And while most of us crack up laughing as soon as Haddish opens her mouth and starts talking, when the 39-year-old expressed interest in still working with Bill Cosby, a lot of people’s laugh track went silent.

Haddish was recently profiled by The La Times and when she was asked about her comedic inspirations, she said this:

“Definitely Richard Pryor. Bill Cosby — I still want to work with Bill Cosby, I don’t care, I’ll drink the juice. I’ll drink the juice. I’ll take a nap. I don’t give a damn. [laughs] But seriously, I would love for him to play my grandfather in something. Lenny Bruce is one of my people that I look up to. And Carol Burnett, Moms Mabley, even Mo’Nique’s crazy ass. I like her boldness and her truth. But there’s so many women … Regina Hall. Regina is a comedic genius and I love that I got the opportunity to work with her and to watch her and to be able to learn from her. Now, I already have [comedic] timing, but her time is so on time that I want my time to get even better.”

As a comedienne, it’s understandable how Cosby would’ve certainly have been an inspiration for Haddish growing up. But I don’t think I’m the only one hoping she hasn’t already drunk the juice when it comes to Cosby’s questionable history with women and the long list of accusations of drug-facilitated sexual assault, sexual misconduct, and rape. On another note, it’s not likely she’ll get a chance to “take a nap” or work with Cosby at all the way his life is set up right now — he’s set to be re-tried in Pennsylvania November 6 for three felony counts of aggravated indecent assault  — so perhaps her confession doesn’t really matter. What do you think about Haddish still wanting to work with Cosby?
